Garden Opening Times 2018 Opening times Due to the late season delaying flowering of many plants we will open the garden this year for an additional 2 days in April from 11am-5pm. Our April opening dates are now :- April 6th - April 9th. April 14th - April 15th
Please note in 2018 we will be open for 4 consecutive days in April and in other months for periods of 5 consecutive days only (instead of 7 days as previously) from 11am - 5pm (instead of 10am - 5pm).
!n 2018 we will be open from 11am - 5pm each day on the following dates :- April (6th - 9th) May (27th - 31st) June (26th - 30th) July (11th - 15th) July (27th - 31st) These dates correspond in an average year with the main seasonal peaks of flowering. Notable amongst which are April (Magnolias and spring bulbs) May (Azaleas, Japanese maples, Rodgersias, Wisterias, Iris) June (Massed perennials especially Dieramas) July (Massed perennials including Agapanthus, Campanulas, Lilies) Admission £6.00
The Nursery - The nursery is not open to the public at any time but we will be selling a selection of the plants we grow at the garden entrance on our garden open days. A selection of Ros Wiley's oil paintings and greetings cards will also be available at this point. The nursery is not open at any other times.
Unfortunately we do not have a tea-room and much of the garden is not accessible for wheelchairs and pushchairs because of the very narrow paths. Although dogs are not allowed in the garden there is ample opportunity for unlimited 'walkies' on the moor just over a mile away prior to a visit
Group visits We are happy to accept groups of over 25 in number on other days in June & July only from 10am - 4pm. The admission for groups of this size is £5.00 / head (Please note there is a minimum admission charge for any group of £125). Should you require a pre-booked guided tour with Keith Wiley this will be an additional £40 / group (normally lasts 75-90 minutes)
How To Find Us - We are less than a mile from The Garden House, close to the village of Buckland Monachorum. From the A386 at Yelverton (Plymouth - Tavistock road) follow the brown tourist signs to 'The Garden House'.
Continue past the entrance to the Garden house (or turn right when exiting from their car park, if you are combining a visit to the garden there).
Go down the hill and go straight on, turning neither right nor left. We are 400 yards past the last houses in the village, on the left, at the point where the blue road signs are indicating the road becomes unsuitable for motor vehicles.
Local B&B- There are several guesthouses and small hotels in Yelverton (3 miles away). We have had good reports from visitors who have stayed at The Rosemont (tel 01822 852175) and Harrabeer Country House Hotel (tel 01822 853302 / www.harrabeer.co.uk). There is also a very good local pub in Buckland Monachorum, The Drake Manor (tel 01822 853892), which also does B&B
